Liberals` Shoulder-Shrugging on Homolka Unacceptable, says Clement

May 31, 2017

OTTAWA – Conservative Public Safety critic and Member of Parliament for Parry Sound-Muskoka, Tony Clement, said it is appalling that the Liberal government is unconcerned about infamous killer Karla Homolka volunteering at her children`s Montreal school.

In the House of Commons today, the Liberal Public Safety Minister explained that the system “makes sense,” and that it allows for “prudent and informed decisions.” Some system. It is obvious something is not working when one of the most vile serial killers of all-time is allowed to spend time freely with school children, while their parents are left in the dark.

“It is outrageous and sickening that Homolka is allowed anywhere near a school, let alone allowed inside to be with the children. This is not only deeply worrisome for the parents at the school, but also another indignation for the families of Paul Bernardo`s and Homolka`s victims. The Liberal shoulder-shrugging on this is unacceptable,” said Clement.

Homolka served 12 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the deaths of two schoolgirls, Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. Her ex-husband, Paul Bernardo, is serving a life sentence for his role in multiple rapes and homicides.
