February 6, 2015

February 6, 2015Gravenhurst – Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement announced today an investment to bolster business development and growth at the Muskoka Airport.

A FedNor investment of $902,000 will enable the District Municipality of Muskoka to complete infrastructure upgrades needed to develop new, fully-serviced industrial lots at the Muskoka Airport.

“The Harper Government is proud to support the Municipality of Muskoka to capitalize on business development and growth opportunities at the Muskoka Airport. Today’s announcement will help put in place the necessary infrastructure to attract private-sector investment to the area, while supporting jobs, growth and prosperity throughout the region,” said MP Clement.

Specifically, the funding will be used to develop seven acres of land for business occupancy by extending an existing roadway, as well as preparing the property to accommodate gas and hydro services. A commercial aircraft service company has committed to expanding its operations in the industrial area once the upgrades are complete.

“The Muskoka Airport is an economic catalyst for our region and today’s announcement will help pave the way for new business development and growth at this important facility. On behalf of the people, businesses and communities of the District Municipality of Muskoka, I would like to thank FedNor and the Government of Canada for partnering with us to further develop this strategic regional asset,” said District of Muskoka Chair John Klinck.
