Huntsville, Ontario, - Parry Sound – Muskoka M.P. and Minister of Industry Tony Clement today announced the launch of the G8 Summit Youth Program as part of the upcoming G8 Leaders Summit. All schools located in the Muskoka and Parry Sound Districts are eligible to take part in this exciting program that celebrates our community and educates our students about the G8 coming to Muskoka in 2010. The Youth Engagement Strategy which will feature three main components:
- A My Muskoka Art Competition for Kindergarten - Grade 5 aged children
- A Multimedia Muskoka Competition for Grades 6 - 10
- And a Mock G8 for Grade 11-12 students
"It's great to see an initiative that engages our kids in this once in a lifetime event," said Tony Clement. "Students and teachers from across Muskoka will gain a better understanding of the global issues the G8 leaders will discuss and become directly involved in the Summit though this Youth Engagement Strategy."
