August 31, 2009
MINETT, Ontario — The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Member of Parliament for Parry Sound–Muskoka, today announced approval of a project that will upgrade Minett’s Paignton House Road in advance of the Huntsville 2010 G8 Summit. Paignton House Road, which runs nearly a kilometre from Juddhaven Road to The Rosseau resort in Minett, will benefit from a $410 000 improvement package, including reconstructing the road base, adding asphalt pavement, ditching, sodding the boulevard and adding new streetlights. The road is owned by the Township of Muskoka Lakes. “The Paignton House Road will be an important route taken by VIPs attending the 2010 G8 Summit, as they travel between The Rosseau resort and the summit site each day,” said Minister Clement. “We want everyone attending the G8 Summit to see Parry Sound–Muskoka at its best. Through strategic investments in local infrastructure, we are ensuring that the region makes the most of the economic opportunities that hosting this prestigious event will yield.” “This road improvement will provide improved access to The Rosseau, a JW Marriott Resort, in Minett,” said Susan Pryke, Mayor of the Township of Muskoka Lakes, adding that the resort is a key accommodation resource for the G8 Summit. “We appreciate the federal government’s support in ensuring that our infrastructure instills pride as we welcome visitors from around the world.” The $50-million G8 Legacy Infrastructure Fund was set up in February 2009 and is dedicated to legacy projects in the Parry Sound–Muskoka area. This strategy corresponds with Canada’s Economic Action Plan to strengthen Northern Ontario communities. The 2010 G8 Summit will generate significant short- and long-term economic benefits for the region and the province and will be an exceptional opportunity for Canada to shine on the world stage. The G8 is composed of eight of the world’s leading economic powers: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The annual summit is a chance for the leaders of the G8 countries to meet face to face and develop common approaches to current challenges facing the world. | March 01, 2010 Port Carling Winterfest 2010February 24, 2010 Standing Up for Victims of Crime - Tony Clement MP Announces Truth in Sentencing Act in EffectFebruary 24, 2010 Standing Up for Victims of Crime - Tony Clement MP Announces Truth in Sentencing Act in EffectFebruary 24, 2010 Tony Clement MP Awarded "The Friends of Downtown Award"February 18, 2010 The Honourable Tony Clement, mp for parry sound – Muskoka celebrates the re-opening of beaver creek bridgeFebruary 18, 2010 The Honourable Tony Clement, mp for parry sound – Muskoka celebrates the re-opening of beaver creek bridgeFebruary 05, 2010 Heritage Announcement at the Stockey Centre in Parry Sound for Sounds on the BayFebruary 01, 2010 ony Clement and Conservative Government Deliver Employment Insurance Special Benefits for the Self EmployedFebruary 01, 2010 Tony Clement and Conservative Government Deliver Employment Insurance Special Benefits for the Self EmployedJanuary 25, 2010 Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound - Muskoka Helps to Raise Money for Haiti Relief FundJanuary 15, 2010 Tony Clement MP Encourages the Residents of Parry Sound-Muskoka to Donate to the Haiti Earthquake Relief FundJanuary 13, 2010 Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound – Muskoka is pleased the Ethics Commissioner Dismisses Liberal ComplaintJanuary 08, 2010 Canada and Ontario partner with not-for-profit organizations to make important renovationsJanuary 03, 2010 Minister Tony Clement applauds Canada receiving Approved Destination Status from ChinaJanuary 03, 2010 Gravenhurst LeveeDecember 01, 2009 Minister Tony Clement applauds funding for Affordable Housing in Parry Sound – MuskokaNovember 13, 2009 Tony Clement in Afghanistan on Remembrance DayNovember 09, 2009 Straight talk on H1N1November 04, 2009 The Honourable Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound – Muskoka is pleased that the long-gun registry is one step closer to being abolishedSeptember 15, 2009 Downtown Bracebridge Brightened Up Before G8September 12, 2009 Tony Clement unveils official logo of the 2010 Muskoka G8 summitSeptember 11, 2009 Kearney breaks ground on upgrades to Arterial Road 518ESeptember 11, 2009 Funding for YWCA of Muskoka for Quest ProgramSeptember 09, 2009 Statement from MP Tony Clement on the passing of Councillor Stewart MartinAugust 31, 2009 CAF investments for Canadore College and fednor funding for Parry SoundAugust 31, 2009 Sundridge receives more funding to prepare for 2010 G8 summitAugust 31, 2009 Paignton house road in minett prepares for 2010 G8 summitAugust 28, 2009 Government of Canada’s investment in Canadian biosphere reserves celebrated in Parry SoundAugust 27, 2009 Government of Canada strengthens Northern Ontario’s economyJuly 17, 2009 Tony Meets the PopeJuly 16, 2009 NEW PROJECTS IN AREA COMMUNITIES TO RECEIVE G8 INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDINGJuly 12, 2009 Welcoming the World: Countdown to 2010 G8 SummitJuly 01, 2009 Tony Clement Hosts Successful Fundraiser for Stan Darling Environmental Education ScholarshipsJune 20, 2009 FedNor Investments Create Youth Employment Opportunities in Parry SoundJune 20, 2009 FedNor Investment Strengthens Georgian Bay RegionJune 12, 2009 Better Local Opportunities with FedNorMarch 08, 2010 Statement By The Prime Minister Of CanadaMarch 08, 2010 Statement By The Prime Minister Of CanadaMarch 01, 2010 Prime Minister Harper and Premier Campbell announce Highway, Bridge and Road Upgrades across British ColumbiaFebruary 28, 2010 Prime Minister Stephen Harper marks closing of Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games |
