Tony Clement Hosts Successful Fundraiser for Stan Darling Environmental Education Scholarships
On June 29th golfers from the local area joined Tony Clement, Member of Parliament for Parry Sound Muskoka, to play for a great cause: the Stan Darling Environmental Education Fund.
The tournament was set at the world famous Deerhurst Resort, in Huntsville. Set in the heart of cottage country and soon to host the world leaders for the 2010 G8 Summit, Deerhurst presents a golfing experience like none other. With a picturesque backdrop of lake, forest & hills, all enjoyed a great day.
The tournament offered a superb sushi bar at the first hole, a hole-in-one opportunity to win $7,500, a barbecue lunch and a steak dinner, meaning there are lots of reasons to come support this fundraiser. There were also a tonne of great items for the silent auction, donated by talented local artisans & retailers.
At the end of the day, the fundraiser was a resounding success for all parties involved.
This scholarship fund was established to help young, environmentally-minded students in the Parry Sound--Muskoka district attend post-secondary level Environmental Studies programs. The scholarship, in the amount of $1,000.00 each, will go to a successful student in each of the riding’s six high schools. In each case, the high school principal will be asked to assist in the process by recommending one or more deserving students to the Fund.
