Minister Tony Clement applauds funding for Affordable Housing in Parry Sound – Muskoka
Ottawa, ON – The Honourable Tony Clement, Member of Parliament for Parry Sound – Muskoka is pleased that the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario will fund two projects that will provide affordable housing for the residents of Parry Sound - Muskoka.
“Our Government is committed to making affordable housing available in Parry Sound – Muskoka and across Canada for those who need it most,” said MP Clement. “These projects will help individuals and families access the suitable and affordable housing they need”.
“I am pleased that my discussions with Minister Jim Watson were well received” said MP Clement “The fire at Empire Hotel made us all aware of how crucial affordable housing is, and the new housing units will help people build a stronger future.”
“I would like to thank Minister Clement for assisting in raising awareness of our affordable housing shortage” said Fran Coleman, Chair of Community Services at the district of Muskoka. “We are grateful for the 6 units under the Canada -Ontario infrastructure program that was achieved by working together with all levels of government".
The District Municipality of Muskoka received $720,000 for 6 units for low-income seniors for the Centre St. North project.
Parry Sound received $1.2 Million for 10 units for low-income seniors for the Seguin Place Inc. project.
Bracebridge received $9.6 million for 80 units for low-income seniors for the Pines.
The funding was made available as a result of a $1.2 billion joint investment under the amended Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program Agreement, which includes funding through Canada's Economic Action Plan and by the Government of Ontario.
