In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 60th anniversary, Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement and MPP Norm Miller presented Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals to deserving recipients from across the region on Saturday, August 25 at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville. The new commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada.

Government of Canada investment to create jobs and enhance tourism in Parry sound-Muskoka Region

On June 16, 2012, Tony announced a Government of Canada investment of more than $83,000 to help create jobs and enhance tourism in the Muskoka region. $55,800 will enable the Muskoka Steamship Association to commemorate the R.M.S. Segwun Steamship's 125th Anniversary. A FedNor investment of $27,000 through the Northern Ontario Development Program will enable the Muskoka Steamships Association to hire a youth intern to coordinate events and activities linked to the 125th Anniversary of the Segwun Steamship.

Marie MP Bryan Hayes gather in front of Sturgeon Falls new water tower. In 2009, as part of the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan, Minister Clement announced an investment of $1.7 million through the Community Adjustment Fund (CAF) to enable the municipality to replace its aging water tower. The Minister visited the town and the site as part of a tour of Northeastern Ontario during which he announced FedNor funding totalling more than $250,000 in support of cultural tourism and business development in the Nickel Belt region.

During a tour of Northeastern Ontario, July 25 - 27, 2011, Minister Clement stopped by the factory for a first-hand look at the farmer-owned operation that began expanding it's product line in 2008 following an investment from FedNor. The plant and cheese shop has become a popular attraction for travellers along Highway 11 while local dairy producers provide more than 3 million litres of milk for the production of cheese and curds each year.
