About Tony

Tony Clement is the Member of Parliament for Parry Sound-Muskoka. He was first elected as MP in 2006.

Since his election to the House of Commons, Mr. Clement has served on the front benches as Treasury Board President, Minister of Health and Minister of Industry, and played a lead role in getting Canada’s economy back on track after the most significant global economic recession since the 1930s. He was most recently the Conservative Party’s Official Opposition Critic for Foreign Affairs.

Within the federal government, he has also chaired five different Committees of Cabinet and served on the Priorities and Planning Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister.

Mr. Clement’s dedication to public service spans three decades. During his eight years as an Ontario MPP he held prominent Cabinet positions in the Ontario government, including Minister of Health and Minister of the Environment.

During his private sector career, Mr. Clement has been a lawyer, a business board member and a small business owner and entrepreneur. He’s had to meet a payroll and achieve his business targets.

As an immigrant to this country, Mr. Clement learned a strong work ethic from his parents, something he has instilled in his three children. His wife Lynne joins him in this life’s work. Mr. Clement is passionate about his family, his community, and Canada. His current attempt to master rock guitar is still a work in progress – meaning there are no imminent career-change plans, although he and his band The Dock Spiders jam regularly, and have played several gigs around the region. They may be headed to a local summer festival near you soon!
